9 soldiers killed after vehicle plunges into gorge in Ladakh
The Centre Government expressed condolences for the deaths of
Indian Army personnel in an accident in Ladakh, close to Leh, on Saturday,
saying that the entire country stands with the grieving families.
Defence authorities claim that when their vehicle crashed into a
canyon in Ladakh, up to nine members of the Indian Army were killed and one
wounded.
Officials estimate that the
collision happened approximately 6.30 p.m. "The troops were moving from
the Karu garrison to Kyari near Leh," they stated.
Many politicians expressed their grief on
social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, writing, "Deeply
saddened by the tragic road accident in Ladakh in which we lost our valiant
soldiers as their vehicle fell into a gorge." In this hour of mourning,
the entire country stands shoulder to shoulder with the grieving families. My
heartfelt condolences go out to them. May the injured recover as soon as
possible."
The country will be eternally grateful for their
service. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the departed families. May the
Almighty provide them the fortitude to withstand this suffering. "I am
praying for the injured to recover quickly."
