Ben Stokes, 32, is to participate as a specialist hitter in this year's competition after retiring from one-day international cricket last year in order to concentrate on leading the Test side. He was voted player of the match in the 2019 World Cup final as England overcame New Zealand in a thrilling extra over.

The England selectors will meet on Tuesday, and teams must submit their rosters by September 5 in order to compete in the event in India. The deadline for changes is September 27.

England defeated New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup championship game thanks to Ben Stokes' outstanding batting performance.

As the Cricket World Cup approaches in October, Ben Stokes will leave his ODI retirement and become eligible for England.

Stokes stopped playing one-day cricket last year to concentrate on leading the Test squad, but he will again be eligible for the World Cup as England looks to retain its 50-over championship.

In the 2019 final, he was voted player of the game as England overcame New Zealand in a thrilling extra over. When England defeated Pakistan in the T20 World Cup final last year, Stokes also struck the game-winning innings of 52 unbeaten.
