Mewat history (1100-1947), Who is Meo, Mewati
Around 1194, Hemraj, Prithviraj Chauhan's brother, sought sanctuary in the Mewat hills during an onslaught by the Mamluk ruler of Delhi. This is when Mewat first appeared in historical accounts. Following that, during Balban's invasion on Mewat, the area gains notoriety. Mewat, a little kingdom with Kotila as its capital during the Delhi Sultanate, was governed by a single sultan.
Hasan Khan, a Mewati lord, sent his
son to support Ibrahim Lodi in the first battle of Panipat when Babur conquered
Hindustan in 1526. Hasan Khan Mewati sided with Rana Sanga against Babur in the
Khanwa War in 1527. The battleground in Khanwa saw the martyrdom of Hasan Khan
Mewati. The Gurgaon district was ruled by the British, Bharatpur by the Jats,
and Alwar by the Narukas during the British era.
Prior to the 1857 insurrection,
however, the British Empire seized and conquered the most of the Jagirs. During
the 1857 insurrection, the Mewatis took an active role in the popular movement.
After learning of the Sepoys' insurrection, all Mewatis, regardless of caste or
religion, joined the rebellion.
In the absence of the royal family,
the ordinary people and peasants of the Mewat area served as both the leader
and the combatant. For the first time in Indian history, nearly all of Mewat's
rural and urban residents hoisted a flag of rebellion against British
oppression and made every effort to drive the foreign yoke from their country.
The Mewati zeal for the uprising was evident in the fact that it persisted in
Mewat for almost two months after the British recaptured Delhi.
To support the Hindu rulers, Meo were
always fighters for rights for people. However Mewati (Meo) were never
bootlicker to British and Mughals like Hindu kings. Even now, people continue
demonstrating against the government's poor actions.
Meo, Mewati started Tablighi Jamaat
and madrasas in India, we should not forget India's first President Dr Rajendra
Prasad, social reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy and Hindi writer Munshi Premchand,
APJ Abdul Kalam began their education with maulvis (Islamic religious scholars)
at madrasas.

In the fight for survival, every
soldier ultimately falls behind. Because they don't get the same benefits as
the other bootlickers.
Mewati's biggest failure after
independence was not selecting the appropriate leaders. All of the leaders that
arrived did nothing for the Mewatis.
When questioned why you aren't doing
anything, the leader said that if things are provided to them, who will ask us?
Note: It is necessary to re-learn from the history of the Mewat people. Choose a Good Leader to Help Make Mewat a Better Place.
