Investigators have detained 12 persons, including current and past students of the varsity, after discovering that the kid was "sexually molested" in the case of the Jadavpur University student who died.

Kolkata Police's preliminary investigation has found that the deceased first-year student of Jadavpur University was paraded nude in the hallway of the second floor of the main dormitory minutes before he died after falling from there.

A senior police official stated on Tuesday that investigators had also discovered that the adolescent had been "sexually molested" and that the 12 persons who had been detained, including current and past students of the varsity, "had played active roles" in the entire sequence up to the Nadia girl's death. Only one of the 13 people detained did not participate actively, according to the police.

"There is no doubt that the youngster was assaulted sexually. After being made to undress in room number 70, he was paraded in the hallway while unclothed. We have proof. The 12 people who were detained had a part in the entire incident, the officer informed PTI.

The officer said that the "group was created to misdirect cops" and that "Kolkata Police investigators have gotten hold of a WhatsApp group created by one of the arrested accused." He said that a local court on Tuesday granted their request to add Section 4 of the WB Prohibition of Ragging in Educational Institutions Act 2000. "Probe also revealed that the arrested accused had planned to misdirect police so that the ragging part could be concealed," he said.
